Mental Health Awareness
In recent history, there have been several massive shootings. Many of the shooters have had mental health issues in the past. Mental illnesses affect 19% of the adult population, 46% of teenagers, and 13% of children yearly (pinerest.org, 2022). People struggle daily worldwide. Yet less than half of those suffering from mental health get the treatment they need. Lack of care happens because of the stigma of having a mental illness, increased medical expenses, family acceptance, and many more reasons.
Mental health awareness has increased over the years. The humiliation and propaganda have caused some hindrance to the progress of individuals getting the appropriate treatment. Those suffering from lack of treatment can see these blockers as overwhelming.
More help is needed. Society can be more accepting and respectful to those coping with their illness. Simply having others see them as individuals and not struggling with mental health could make a difference. As a country, we must learn more about mental health to provide the necessary support to those affected in our nation, town, communities, and families.
