Make Health and Self-Care Priority Overworking and never stopping to assess your mental and physical health can be detrimental. Many of us fail to prioritize our health and self-care. Work demands and family obligations compete with one’s tendency to prioritize the needs of others first. Making unhealthy lifestyle choices can increase stress levels which are detrimental to already stressful lives. Adopting a healthier lifestyle can significantly reduce premature mortality and increase longevity for all adults in the United States.
